I had the good fortune to attend a Nonprofit Center Of The Berkshires open house at Saint James Place a few years ago. I had been volunteering for another organization and was looking for a new opportunity that was a better fit. I discovered Lit Net at this event and have been volunteering with this excellent nonprofit ever since! Had I not attended this informative event, I doubt I would have begun my very rewarding relationship with LitNet. I also have done some volunteer work for NPC Of The Berkshires (proof reading, helping out at a recent event), and I continue to be impressed with the energy, focus, attention to detail, and dedication of not only its founder and director, Liana Toscanini, but also other members of the staff. The connections and services that NPC Of The
Berkshires provide are vital ones.

Nonprofit Center of the Berkshires has been an incredible resource and mentor for our fledgling not for profit. We at Roots & Dreams and Mustard Seeds are approaching our fifth year since instatement and we’re looking for resources and insight to grow our organization from a volunteer start-up to a more foundational not for profit with paid staff. As a small nonprofit, I was referred to the Nonprofit Center of the Berkshires initially to get a referral for a local accountant. And after making a connection, I realized that I also needed help researching local grant-makers interested in the James Weldon Johnson Foundation’s mission. Beforehand, I had success and received grant awards from national funders but was early in my research process with local funders. Fortunately, the Nonprofit Center of the Berkshires directed me to prospective donors. Due to good timing and good fit and strategic advice from the Nonprofit Center of the Berkshires, the James Weldon Johnson Foundation was awarded a grant by a funder interested in the supporting projects in the Berkshires. This local grant supports our Phase I capital project for restoration and rehabilitation of the James Weldon Johnson Writing Cabin and it also serves as a catalyst for future funding opportunities in the Berkshires and beyond. A big thanks to the Nonprofit Center of the Berkshires!

I am the president of the board of NAMI Berkshire County. Last year at this time we were without an executive director and struggling to stay afloat. Thanks to Liana by passing along a resume, we hired our first full-time executive director who has been absolutely amazing! Liana has also been an advisor when we have needed help on how to handle certain situations. NPC of the Berkshires is always a valuable resource in our community!

When we needed a fiscal representative for the W.E.B. Du Bois Sculpture Project, we immediately thought of Non-Profit Center of the Berkshires.
