BACKGROUND
There are over 1,000 nonprofits in Berkshire County – the highest per capita in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the 6th highest in the U.S. The Berkshire nonprofit sector is a significant economic driver, supporting nearly 24,000 full and part-time jobs and generating $1.6 Billion in annual revenue. In partnership with our sponsors, the NPC produces an uplifting annual awards event that recognizes the nonprofit sector’s greatest assets – its people. With The Berkshire Eagle as the major media sponsor, this unique event is widely promoted throughout the Berkshires between February and May.
DESCRIPTION OF EVENT
Nonprofit organizations make outstanding contributions to Berkshire County’s quality of life. The Berkshire Nonprofit Awards recognize the high level of commitment and extraordinary accomplishments of individuals in Berkshire County’s nonprofit community. This is a celebratory event on a weekday morning to honor THE PEOPLE who work tirelessly in the nonprofit sector to serve the Berkshire Community. Nominations are solicited from across the Berkshires in 8 categories: Executive Leadership, Board Leadership, Super Staffer, Unsung Hero, Rising Star, Volunteer, Lifetime Achievement and the Samya Rose Stumo Youth Leadership Award. 8 honorees (one in each category) will be selected by a committee of business and nonprofit leaders.
