Imagine a time in the not-too-distant future when things are better than they are now, and we’re celebrating.

Maybe an election has just occurred and we’re celebrating a record turn out. Maybe we’re celebrating another pantry being closed because more and more people are getting all the food they need. Maybe we’re celebrating a decrease in hospital visits because partnerships between the for-profit, non-profit, and government entities have created better community health. Maybe we’re celebrating another new business opening that will offer jobs and a product that enhances the dignity of every person who walks through the door.

Somedays celebrations like this can seem like a pretty distant possibility but they don’t have to be. Those of us who have started gathering as The Berkshire Grit Alliance are imagining a different sort of future beyond the worse case scenarios in front of us. We’re imagining a time when our cross sector relationships are in such a place that we can support each other, work on a collective approach to current problems, and mutually build a better future.
