The CBC helps Massachusetts nonprofits get more affordable health coverage by pooling our collective buying power — while each organization still sets up its own plan.
It’s led by the Nonprofit Center of the Berkshires in partnership with insurance broker Acrisure.
What you get:
No commitment until you see the price. Here’s the path, step by step:
1. Learn about the program
Watch a short video or join an info session (dates to be announced).
2. Get your pricing — share your census by Sept 1, 2026
Send Acrisure basic info via an encrypted upload system about the staff who would be covered. This isn’t a commitment — you’re just asking, “What would this cost us?”
3. Acrisure gathers the bids
Using the combined data from all interested nonprofits, Acrisure requests bids and selects a carrier.
4. See your numbers — week of Sept 14
Acrisure shares your pricing, carrier, and plan details.
5. Sign on by Oct 15
Like what you see? Tell Acrisure you’re in. This is where you commit.
6. Viability check — Oct 21, 2026
Acrisure confirms whether enough organizations have signed on to hit the “critical mass” needed. If we’re there, it’s a go. If sign-ons fall short, pricing may rise or the program may pause.
7. Enroll — by Dec 1, 2026
Enroll your organization and buy coverage directly from the chosen carrier.
Coverage begins January 1, 2027.
